The gap this site fills

Type the question into a search engine and you get photographs of lagoons, a promise of sixty days and a form asking for your phone number. What you rarely get is the answer: which certificates, issued by whom, valid for how long, apostilled in what order, and what happens when one of them lapses while you wait for another.

That material is unglamorous and takes effort to compile, which is exactly why so little of it exists. It is also the only part that determines whether an application succeeds.

Two corrections before anything else

The first is structural. No foreign national applies for this passport as a passport. Vanuatu confers nationality under an investment programme, and the travel document is a consequence of that grant rather than a thing applied for separately.

The second concerns who does the applying. Files reach the Commission through agents the government has designated for the purpose, and the obligation to satisfy the Financial Intelligence Unit sits with them. An applicant's work is evidential — establishing identity, demonstrating a clean record, and accounting for where the money came from. The last of those consumes most of the effort and causes most of the refusals.

Where the numbers come from

Amounts on this site are taken from the programme's fee structure rather than from other websites. A sole applicant contributes one hundred and thirty thousand US dollars; the figure rises in defined steps for a spouse, a first child and a second, and each further dependant adds twenty-five thousand. Separate from all of it, and payable before any background check begins, is a five-thousand-dollar due diligence fee that nobody refunds.

Because those amounts are set by regulation, they are the same wherever you apply from and whoever files for you. A quotation that moves them is not offering a better deal; it is describing its own fee as a government one.

On travel access, specifically

We state eighty-eight destinations. Rankings and marketing pages routinely claim half as many again, and the discrepancy has a date attached to it: during 2023 both Brussels and London withdrew the arrangements that had let holders of this passport travel to Europe and Britain without a visa. Material written before then was accurate when published and is misleading now. Buying a document for access that lapsed two years ago is an expensive way to discover this.

Limits we observe

No page here undertakes that an application will be granted — that lies with the Citizenship Commission alone. No page quotes a firm completion date, because the government publishes no service standard and the figures in circulation come from agents rather than from Port Vila. And nothing on this site claims any official character; where a Vanuatu authority is named, it is named to describe what it does.

If you want to ask something

The form is there for it. The enquiries worth sending early are the awkward ones — a conviction you assume is too old to matter, a payment you would struggle to trace, a refusal from somewhere else. Each is ordinarily workable when raised at the outset and considerably harder once a file has been submitted and rejected.
